“The era of transactional hardware-only sales is over. Customers no longer seek just machines, but end-to-end solutions.”

At this year’s CHINAPLAS, Chen Hsong Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of injection molding machines, unveils the SM 750-TP DMZE III, a two-platen multi-material machine featuring a piggyback electric injection unit that redefines smart, sustainable manufacturing.

This innovation integrates electric drive, multi-material capabilities and two-platen technology with recycled resin compatibility. Visitors can see live demo of high-efficiency molding of large storage boxes, demonstrating premium surface quality using recycled resin processing.

Featuring sustainable solutions, it is circular-economy ready with a precise injection of 30% to 50% recycled materials into the product core, effectively eliminating sink marks and dimples via sandwich molding.

It also optimizes space and energy, with an innovative piggyback design that reduces floor space by 20%, with a synchronized plasticizing and high-efficiency servo systems that shorten cycles by 30% and lower energy consumption by 20%–40%. Precision control is achieved with a full-electric injection drive that ensures 50% faster response and minimal pressure fluctuation (±0.2 bar) for perfect sandwich layers and color uniformity.

Chen Hsong Group unveiled its world-premiered piggyback electric injection unit multi-material two-platen machine at CHINAPLAS, which demonstrated the production of large-sized storage boxes live at the booth.

Another live demonstration is the production of wireless charger top housing with In-Mold Decoration by Roller (IMR) technology, by the SPARK AE150 high-speed all-electric injection molding machine that features AI Molder control system.

The surge in demand for refined aesthetics drives the popularization of IMR technology, which achieves complex textures and gradient effects in a single process. Real-time monitoring via AI Molder locks process deviations within standard range, significantly reducing scrap rates.

Customers want solutions, not only machines

As a successful global leader in injection molding technology, Chen Hsong keeps abreast of the latest market trends.

“First of all, the era of transactional hardware-only sales is over,” says Lim Yi Jun, Corporate Project Officer, Chen Hsong Group. “Amid tight global labor markets and persistent wage inflation, customers no longer seek just machines, but end-to-end solutions to stabilize production, cut labor reliance, and lock in measurable operational gains.” In addition, the industry is seeing a secular shift from basic automation and manual parameter control to AI-driven, data-backed value creation.

To meet these challenges, Chen Hsong is focusing on institutionalizing operational knowledge through proprietary algorithms, which breaks down cross-functional data silos and reduces reliance on highly specialized labor. The company also introduced its iChen smart factory ecosystem and custom turnkey offerings to deliver clear operational alpha, transitioning its role from a mere equipment vendor to a long-term strategic productivity partner.

In fact, a core pillar of the company’s strategy is the full transition from an equipment manufacturer to an end-to-end solution provider, centered on a seamless online-to-offline service loop. “We’re scaling our iChen Smart Factory ecosystem to deliver full-stack turnkey solutions, covering plant planning, equipment integration, intelligent operation management, and full lifecycle services,” he reveals.

Sustainable solutions and global-localized expansion

Driving the development of the industry are the global ESG and carbon regulations. From the EU’s CBAM to regional net-zero mandates, paired with sustained input cost volatility, have made sustainability a non-negotiable baseline operational requirement. “Manufacturers now require equipment that seamlessly processes recycled and bio-based resins without compromising output quality or throughput,” Lim points out.

Chen Hsong responds to decarbonization compliance with its SPARK and MK7S all-electric series, which reduce energy consumption by up to 30%, while its purpose-built screw geometries enable stable, high-quality molding for recycled PLA and other sustainable materials, even under continuous high-throughput conditions.

Another industry trend is the re-orientation of the global supply chain. Lim points out that the acceleration of nearshoring, friend shoring and China Plus One strategies is a material, underappreciated secular demand driver for the industry. “As manufacturing capacity scales across Southeast Asia and Latin America, our established Indonesia service center expanding to cover the full ASEAN market together with our upcoming Chen Hsong Mexico on track for formal launch in 2026, position us as the preferred localized partner for globalizing enterprises.”

In addition, its Shenzhen and Ningbo manufacturing campuses are on track for full digital transformation, as the company builds industry-leading digital lighthouse factories for the global injection molding sector.

Strategic focus on high-growth end-use sectors in 2026

“Looking ahead to 2026, we see a clearly bifurcated growth profile for the global injection molding market,” Lim says. This will not be a year of broad-based expansion, but targeted, structural growth in high-conviction end markets. “To frame our outlook simply, we remain selectively constructive on the space.”

He expects sub-trend global GDP growth in 2026, with ongoing geopolitical cross-currents and commodity price volatility creating modest headwinds for aggregate market demand.

“That said, we’ve pinpointed high-growth end-use sectors driving the lion’s share of the industry’s volume upside: thin-wall packaging, medical consumables, electric vehicle light weighting, precision components for AI data centers, and the fast-scaling commercial drones,” he explains.

As a final note, to get ahead in the industry, Lim adds that underpinning all the company’s initiatives is its long-standing commitment to R&D and talent development, advanced through the Chiang Chen Industrial Charity Foundation.

“We’re increasing annual R&D investment focused on three core areas: AI-driven molding technology, all-electric machine innovation, and circular manufacturing processes,”he says. “We also run structured talent training programs to support our long-term industrial leadership, as well as the sustainable development of the wider manufacturing sector.”
